Salutations, Terp Bros family! What a week it’s been. From new products to warmer weather finally coming back to Astoria, even a visit from Carmelo Anthony at the shop last Thursday, a lot has happened in the last week. As usual, we’re here to catch you up. Whether you’re trying to find that new good smoke or just looking for fun local activities and munchies spots to enjoy after you grab your goodies from us here at Terp Bros, let us assure you, you’re in the right place!
Let’s start with what you may have missed in the last week. On Thursday, Carmelo Anthony came by Terp Bros Astoria to promote his new line of flower called STAYME7O, as well as a line of disposable vapes in collaboration with Holiday. A ton of local fans lined up around the block for a chance to meet the soon-to-be Hall of Famer, grab an autograph, and snap a selfie. Melo was unbelievably kind and came out to show the community love like he’s known for. He created the Carmelo Anthony Foundation which supports and provides opportunities for children in underserved communities and co-founded Social Change Fund United (SCFU) which is a non-profit organization that focuses on criminal justice reform. His visit to Terp Bros was in no way an exception to his generosity. He met with every person in line and was more than happy to take selfies and sign jerseys, action figures, and more. People outside after the event mentioned how much it meant to them to get to meet him and it meant just as much to us to be able to make that happen for fans in Astoria! If you missed it, not to worry! You still have a chance to try some of the new STAYME7O products available now at Terp Bros.
WEEKLY FEATURED PRODUCTS
1. Doja Exclusive Flower – ¼ Oz. Jars (Assorted)
Doja brings the heat. There just isn’t any way around it. That’s why we had to scoop the Doja Exclusive drop. All three of these small-batch strains bring their own unique flavor and high to the party, and we’re here until the sun comes up for it. The Giraffe Puzzy starts solidly funky with middle notes that turn fruity and floral before the smooth exhale and sweet, creamy base notes leave you wanting more. The Gelonade hits hard with bursts of citrus and gas up front and a hint of deep, earthy sweetness that makes for an unforgettable flavor profile with a stimulating and creative high. Finally, the permanent Marker. The sweet and gassy, candy-like terp profile along with the heavy, relaxing body high with no shortage of euphoria or giggles lands this one solidly in the indica lovers Mount Rushmore. No wonder so many growers have been showing this strain love, but take it from us, nobody does it like Doja.
2. Cannabals Edibles (Assorted)
Are you the kind of person that likes a bit of variety with your edibles? Perhaps you’re an edibles lover that just wishes there was a better way to control your dosage or simply don’t want to feel stuck choosing from nothing but a seemingly never-ending sea of gummy options. If this sounds like you, you are in luck. Cannabals is a brand of edibles that puts the dosage and choice in your hands! If you want a gummy but are looking for a higher dose or just a smaller amount of gummy per dose, check out their line of Cannabals Bricks. These single piece, peel apart gummies come attached to one another. That means you can choose to eat one piece at a time (significantly smaller and lower in sugar than most other 10mg gummies) or you can rip off as many pieces as you want to eat. We don’t recommend eating the whole thing unless you are well versed in edibles consumption. Know your body! Cannabals is also unique in that they offer not only gummies, but chocolate treats as well. Their line of chocolate filled mini cones (available in dark and white chocolate varieties) is a fun and crunchy way to get your buzz going! At 10mg per piece, these mini cones are great for sharing so think about grabbing a bag (or three) for your next springtime get together!
3. Holiday x STAYME7O Collab Disposable Vapes (Assorted)
If you’ve made it this far, then you already know that Carmelo Anthony visited us on Thursday and that he dropped his STAYME7O line of flower as well as three flavors of exclusive Holiday vapes! These things are next level. They come in Knicks blue and orange and are textured to look and feel like a basketball. No rock was unturned in the development of these vapes and that includes the flavors and highs. The Pressure Pack sativa will leave you uplifted like you just drained a jumper from downtown with tropical, fruity flavors. The hybrid option, Hall of Flames is a not-so-subtle nod to the fact that Melo will be inducted into the basketball Hall of Fame later this year. This almost savory, unique flavored vape is no departure from the perfectionism that got him where he is today. Its calming effects are perfect for a game of pickup with the homies or halftime when you’re down by ten and need to rally. A truly balanced hybrid. Finally, the Garden Grape indica is one for after the win. You did what you needed to do to score the W and now that you’ve done it, you deserve to truly relax with a vape that will help you stay Melo. The smooth, grape forward flavor and sedative, relaxing effects will leave you wanting another pull and you know what? You’ve earned it, champ!
LOCAL MUNCHIES HIGHLIGHT – Sanfords Astoria
Greek food is amazing. Here in Astoria, we have access to some of the best Greek food in the country and that is not lost on us. However, we’ve got the munchies and a taste for some variety in our diets and for that reason, we’re suggesting that you try Sanfords. Originally a whisky bar that started serving food shortly after opening back in 1938, Sanfords has been serving up stiff drinks and delectable New American dishes to the hungry and thirsty people of Astoria for close to ninety years. Their whisky selection is unbeatable, and the atmosphere is classy and cozy. Where this place truly shines, however, is their food. Let’s start with brunch. From truffle mac and cheese to an assortment of breakfast tacos and even a prime skirt steak ciabatta breakfast sandwich, they clearly mean business. No shortage of delicious brunch drinks, either! Lunch is no different, boasting options such as Blue Point oysters, a house-made French Onion soup, and lobster ravioli. While brunch and lunch here are both great and we certainly recommend trying them out, you’ll be kicking yourself if you don’t also go for dinner at least once. Starters like imported Buffalo mozzarella and filet mignon egg rolls. Main dishes like the 8oz Wagyu bavette, Prime short rib cavatelli, and organic vegetable paella. Rotating house-made desserts and specials. This place has it all and we’re happy to not gatekeep this gem of a spot right here in our neighborhood!
WHAT TO DO IN NYC THIS WEEK
1. Everyday is a Holiday – Tuesday, April 22nd, 9pm, Q.E.D. Astoria, 23rd Ave.
Join local amateur and professional comedians as they celebrate otherwise uncelebrated holidays with jokes and stories that bring light to the tragedy of these holidays going underappreciated by most, if not all, year after year. These comics say, “No more!” They are kicking off the inaugural show in this series tonight with Earth Day! That’s right, if you’re reading this right now and wondering what you’re going to do with the rest of your night, you just figured it out! Swing by Terp Bros to grab some pre-show party favors, then head over to Q.E.D. for a night of laughs and eye-opening jokes and stories that celebrate this big, beautiful planet we all call home and the holiday dedicated to it that we all collectively ignore. Show starts at 9pm so grab your tickets soon!
2. Opening of Uptown Rumble: Heavy Music in The Bronx – Thurs. April 24th – 6-8pm, Museum of Bronx History, Bainbridge Ave.
Are you a fan of heavy metal, hardcore, death metal and more from the 1960s to the 2000s? If you answered yes, then we have the event for you. The Bronx Historical Society and the Museum of Bronx History is opening the Uptown Rumble exhibit that highlights the history and music of artists and bands in The Bronx that played these specific genres. While The Bronx today may be known for its numerous contributions to the hip hop community and culture, it has been known since its inception as a Mecca for those who love to write and perform, and that hasn’t always been on hip hop and rap stages. In fact, The Bronx has a storied and diverse musical history with lots of subsets and lesser-known artists and bands having played a hand in shaping the current music scene in The Bronx we see today. This exhibit aims to shed light on some of those lesser-known artists and provide perspective for a new generation of writers and performers in The Bronx. With any luck, it will help to inspire some young Bronx artists to take the stage and shape the future of music in the borough as well. The exhibit is free and opens on Thursday, April 24th from 6-8pm with food provided by Liebman’s Deli!
3. Enjoy the “Flowers” at the West Side Community Garden – W. 89th St. Manhattan
Ok, so this one isn’t exactly an event so much as it is a location. A garden, to be specific. A kind of hidden gem garden that will have you feeling like you left New York City and walked into a forest from another realm. A realm filled with tens of thousands of tulips every spring. One just on the other side of an unassuming wrought iron gate on West 89th Street on the West Side of Manhattan. One that is open daily from dawn until dusk and is the perfect place to enjoy the flowers while enjoying the “flowers” if you know what we mean. This little hideaway in the bustling city is the perfect spot for a lunch break breather, or to bring a date in the springtime when everyone else is still obsessed with the overrated cherry blossoms throughout the city. Alright, maybe they aren’t overrated, but still. This garden with thousands of beautiful tulips goes almost unnoticed most of the season and as a group of enthusiastic flower lovers, we just don’t think that’s right. So, next time you’re looking for the perfect place to stroll with your date, read a nice book on a warm spring day, or simply take in the beauty of the amazing tulips, the West Side Community Garden is an absolute must!
