Welcome back, Terp squad! It’s Tuesday once again and as you already know, that means it’s time for us to lace you up with another week’s worth of fun and fire! Light up that morning doobie and pull out the notes app because you won’t want to miss any of the heat we’ve got lined up for you this week. From new products and strains to look out for here at Terp Bros Astoria (and Ozone Park soon too) to where to hang out and which spots have the best cure for the munchies near you. We aim to show you just how much is going on in your neighborhood (or at least close by) so you never feel an ounce of boredom. Feel an ounce of weed instead! 1. Space Poppers Infused Popcorn - 100mg Bags (~2mg/piece) Assorted Flavors
There’s just something so nostalgic about popcorn in all its variations. From hot, freshly buttered popcorn by the handful at the movies, or that triple flavor tin we all got from that one relative that never really knew what to get us for Christmas. Let’s face it, rosin is the future of concentrates. You can’t beat something that involves no chemical solvents in the extraction process. That means all you’re getting is THC, terpenes, and no fillers or trace elements of harmful chemicals. For this reason, the second featured product this week is the new line of live rosin carts and disposables from Jetty. The half gram disposables come in a sleek pen style that doesn’t take up too much pocket space. WEEKLY RESTAURANT _HIGH_LIGHT - WHITE BEAR (FLUSHING)
White Bear in Flushing is one of those restaurants that got famous for doing one thing really well. That, in itself, is a story as old as time. A bakery that makes the best bread. A pizza place that cares enough to buy the right ingredients because they know it will make the difference with every bite. Some places simply care about the level of quality of their food and the experiences their customers have more than others. Those are the few that rise to the top and become beacons of flavor for the hungry masses. White Bear is one of these places for their steamed pork dumplings with hot sauce. It’s simple food, done exceptionally well. In fact, this isn’t even the first time White Bear has been mentioned in our newsletter. First, it had a brief mention in the Flushing food crawl section because no trip to Flushing is complete without some of these piping hot, juicy, flavorful pockets of joy. Because of this, we decided they deserved their own shout out so that there is absolutely no doubt in your mind as to whether or not they’re worth the trip. They are. They’re steamed to perfection, set on a styrofoam plate or paper tray, covered with their homemade hot sauce and chili crisp then topped with chopped scallions and sesame seeds. Nothing but simple, clean ingredients cooked with generations of knowledge behind every move. The shop is small and unassuming, so you might miss it if you aren’t looking for it. Keep your eyes peeled and your taste buds ready for a new favorite spot!
WHAT TO DO IN QUEENS THIS WEEK!
- Alabama Shakes LIVE @ Forest Hills Arena - 9/17 - 7pm
Alabama Shakes are a soulful young band full of old souls. Their sound is unique and fun and their shows are always a blast! If you’ve never heard of them, do yourself a favor and check them out. Once you do, you’ll understand why we’re suggesting you go. If you can find a ticket, that is. Their shows regularly sell out and their fans are loyal. However, if you do manage to score some tickets, it’s guaranteed to be one of the most fun shows you’ve ever been to! Forest Hills Arena also has a lot of concerts and shows, so if you can’t find tickets to this one, there is sure to be an act there soon that you want to go see!
- Karaoke Mondays - Albatross Bar - Every Monday, 9pm Sign Up Time
Do you have what it takes to grace the stage and belt out a ballad like the pros? Us either. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have just as much fun! Karaoke is a way we can all feel what it’s like to be the star of the show. Even if it is only for a few minutes at a time. Albatross bar here in Astoria hosts a Karaoke night every Monday for those looking to sing and dance the night away with friends! Karaoke not your thing? Not to worry! Albatross also hosts all kinds of events most nights of the week and happens to be one of the most fun clubs in not just Astoria, but all of Queens! Grab your girlies, wear something cute, and rock the stage at one of the hottest clubs in the city! Who says you’re not a star? You are to us!
