Landmarks Within Lindenwood
Lindenwood is a section of Howard Beach built in the 1950s and 1960s on landfill. In the early 1950s, farmland north of Rockwood Park filled with red-brick, garden-style co-op apartments, and the new neighborhood took the name Lindenwood. Six-story orange and red brick buildings followed in the 1960s, including Heritage House East and West, among the first condominium apartments in New York State.
