30th Avenue is the food street. It starts at Vernon Boulevard on the East River — the edge with the LIC skyline view across the water — and runs east through the densest part of Astoria all the way to 49th Street where it shades into Astoria Heights. The walk from one end to the other is a thirty-minute trip through five different layers of the neighborhood: waterfront-condo professional crowd at the western foot, then the old-school Italian-American holdouts (Sac's Place, the Trattoria L'incontro family), the Greek mega-restaurant stretch around 33rd-34th Streets (Taverna Kyclades on weekends is genuinely a scene), then the wine bars and coffee shops that filled the storefronts between 34th and 37th after 2020, and finally the quieter residential blocks heading toward Astoria Heights.

The cross-streets — 31st Street under the N/W el, 35th Street, 38th Street — are where you find the bigger apartment buildings: six-story pre-wars stacked above shoulder-to-shoulder storefronts. The side blocks running off 30th Ave (29th Ave, 31st Ave) are mostly two-family attached houses and small co-ops, which is the quietest version of Astoria living and where a lot of our repeat 30th Ave customers actually live.

How delivery to 30th Ave works

Drivers run south on 35th Street or 38th Street out of our depot and turn west or east on 30th Ave to reach the block. The route is short — usually 5-7 minutes door to door — which makes 30th Ave one of our most reliable delivery zones. The single slow spot is the intersection of 31st Street and 30th Avenue (under the el) during Friday and Saturday evening dinner rush, when Uber and Lyft drops to Taverna and Telly's back up the lane. If you live in the immediate three-block radius of that intersection on a Friday night, expect closer to 30 minutes.

The Q103 runs along Vernon at the western end. From any block of 30th Ave you can hit a subway in under ten minutes on foot.
