AK-47 is a balanced hybrid at 17-22% THC, with sour earth, sandalwood and sweet pine on the exhale over a myrcene, caryophyllene and pinene stack. Effects arrive within about 3 minutes and are described as a mellow, uplifting cerebral wave. Serious Seeds released it in the Netherlands in 1992.
The Mellow Cerebral Wave
Onset is about 3 minutes, and the feeling is reported as a mellow, uplifting cerebral wave. The listed use cases are a creative afternoon, social conversation and a long bike ride. Duration runs 2 to 4 hours inhaled, longer for edibles.
It is listed as a balanced hybrid and is described as daytime-leaning, with a terpene profile that reads more alert than restful.
Terpenes Behind the Sour Earth Nose
Myrcene
Myrcene is first on the list and carries the body-relaxing, heavy, classic indica-feel descriptors beside the sour earth of the aroma.
Caryophyllene
Caryophyllene is second and reads peppery, warm and grounding.
Pinene
Pinene contributes a fresh, pine-like aroma, which fits the sweet pine on the exhale.
Four Parents: Colombian, Mexican, Thai and Afghani
AK-47 stacks four ancestors: Colombian, Mexican, Thai and Afghani. Serious Seeds bred it in the Netherlands in 1992, and it went on to win multiple Cannabis Cups. Flowering takes 7-9 weeks.
If You Like AK-47
White Widow lists the same three terpenes in a different order (myrcene, pinene, caryophyllene), with sweet pine, earthy spice and light floral funk at 18-25% THC. Blue Dream is sativa-leaning at 17-24% THC, with blueberry candy and vanilla cream in place of sour earth. Strawberry Cough swaps the sandalwood for ripe strawberry jam and fresh-cut hay, and lists a lower 15-20% THC. Granddaddy Purple is the contrast pick, an indica-leaning grape and lavender profile.
