Others blast loud music and yell as people walk by. Any tactic that gets a restaurant or vendor more business is one worth trying, however, they’ve taken a different approach at Christos. Instead of flash and flare, the way they set themselves apart at Christos, a humble souvlaki street cart, is by continuously cranking out top quality food at amazing prices and treating the people like exactly what they are. Their neighbors. The food is fantastic. There’s no way around it. We could go on and on about the details like their expert level of charring or their perfectly crafted sauces, but what’s really going to make the difference is trying it for yourself. If you’re anything like us, once you have, you’ll have a hard time getting souvlaki anywhere else in Astoria. Make sure your phone is charged before you go. There is sometimes a line, but mostly just because you’re going to want to take a picture of your food so you remember where to go when the craving inevitably hits again. One of the reasons we love it here is because of a funky little store down the road called Newtown HQ. They sell everything from blind mystery boxes to custom stationary, quirky shirts, fun gifts, and everything between. We like to call it a store for when you don’t necessarily need something, but you want something and you want it to be cute, fun, stylish, etc. This is a one stop shop for all of the things you didn’t know you needed until you saw them. Ever wanted a butter dish that looks like a crying lion? Of course you haven’t, but in case you do now that you’ve read about it, you know that Newtown is the place to go!
