90's Flashback: A Terp Bros Newsletter

You just got off work at your minimum wage job that pays five bucks an hour and the only way you're getting bud before you go home is if you drive across town to meet your friend's older brother whose personality is shady at best. You roll down your window (manually), crank the new hit 'Baby Got Back' from Sir Mix-a-Lot, and turn the key to your hand-me-down Honda Civic. Tires screech as it jumps into gear and barrels down the road. To the plug you go!

When you arrive, you have to get past the security. A snarling, most likely rabid chihuahua with patchy fur and only a handful of teeth greets you with a prompt bite to the leg as you swing open the gate. With some fancy footwork you manage to make it to the front door and ring the bell. The door swings open immediately. He looks you up and down, spurts some chew spit out on the porch next to your shoe, and asks you what your name is with a suspicious tone. You've been here twice already this week. You remind him again and he cracks an almost evil smile before grabbing you by the shoulder and pulling you inside.

As the door shuts behind you, suddenly your eyes scream open and you realize you're in your current day bed. It was all a dream, and you really did used to read Word Up Magazine. Only now, it's 2026. You remember you can just drive to the dispensary. What a time to be alive! You hop in your hand-me-down Honda Civic, roll the window down (manually), crank Baby Got Back, and peel out in the direction of Terp Bros!

Terp Bros Astoria 3rd Anniversary Block Party! (10/24 5-10P)

Hard to believe it's almost been three whole years of serving the amazing Astoria community. We've watched the neighborhood grow and evolve through our shop windows for almost a third of a decade now, and a lot has changed in that time. We've seen new restaurants open, and sadly, some of them close. We've seen the impact that our little shop has had, and we've fallen in love with the people and fellow businesses here on Ditmars. While things come and go, and times inevitably change, no outdated Bob Dylan lyric could ever come between us and the community we've officially become a part of! For that reason, and because we do it every year, we're having an absolute blowout of a block party on the 24th of this month!

It won't just be good weed, either. There will be a live DJ (DJ Camilo) spinning tracks, a rock climbing wall, multiple food options, break dancers, stilt walkers, and that doesn't even scratch the surface! There will be boozy ice cream from our friends at Tipsy Scoop, amazing and elevated bar food from our next door neighbors at The Pomeroy, and third generation Italian options from Joe's Gourmet Meats (The King of Italian Sausage).
