Agua Clara Dominican Restaurant (Astoria)

If you have been looking for a respectable Dominican option in the Astoria food scene for what seems like forever, you are not alone. In fact, we have been dying to highlight a Dominican spot but haven't found a lot of places around here making quality Dominican food like we were looking for. However, the wait is finally over. Agua Clara here in Astoria has answered the call we were all shouting into the ether.

They are doing classic Dominican comfort food in a way that will put a genuine smile on your face whether or not you know anything about Dominican cuisine. They have Tres Golpes, Mofongo, breakfast platters and sandwiches, and fresh squeezed juices. They also serve burgers and fries for the less adventurous eaters. They even do daily and weekly specials like Pollo Guisado, Bistec a la Pimienta, and so many more delicious dishes that we think are worth the trip from whatever borough you happen to live in. Make sure to tell them we said high when you stop by.

Arepalicious (Ozone Park)

Do you love arepas? How about Colombian food in general? If you answered yes to one or both of those questions, we have a place for you to check out in Ozone Park. Arepalicious is cooking up some of the best Colombian food we've ever had, and we think you should give it a try too! Appetizers like Pork Belly Ceviche, Ceviche de Camaron, Tostones Samplers, and more. They have a different rotating soup special for every day of the week.

The steak is amazing, the chicken is fantastic, the fish is fire. The maduro, the rice, the beans. It is all delicious and will have you coming back for more! Our favorites are the mini arepa sampler, the chicken soup (served daily), the lengua a la criolla, and literally any of their desserts. You honestly cannot go wrong here. No matter what you happen to order when you go, let them know that Terp Bros sent you!

House of Holiday - Christmas Store

It's October already. Can you believe it? You know what that means, right? It's almost Halloween, which means it's almost Thanksgiving, which means it's almost Christmas! It's never too early to start stocking up on supplies for the most wonderful time of the year! Lucky for us here in Queens, House of Holiday is a Christmas Store that is open every day of the year. Two expansive floors of Christmas trees, ornaments, decorations, moving displays, even life sized animatronic Santa Claus figures to scar children for life... or, you know... spread Holiday cheer or whatever.

Regardless of the reason you might want to visit a year round Christmas store, you'll be happy you did. While you're there, make sure you don't forget to go upstairs. The first time we went, we had no idea. Like, it was still cool. Very cool. But when we finally went upstairs, we understood. You will too. We won't give too much away.
