Terp Bros NYC has two CAURD-licensed Queens dispensaries near the airports: the Ozone Park store is about 4.1 mi from JFK in a straight line, and the Astoria store is about 1.7 mi from LaGuardia. Adults 21 and over can buy with valid government-issued ID, and delivery to a hotel or rental is free over $100 when you order by 9pm. Do not fly with cannabis.
Queens is the borough most travelers land in, and it is home to two of New York's licensed adult-use cannabis stores. If you are flying into JFK or LaGuardia and wondering where adults 21 and over can legally buy cannabis nearby, this guide lays out the closest Terp Bros NYC locations, straight-line distances, the rules on flying with cannabis, and how same-day delivery works to a hotel or short-term rental. Terp Bros NYC is owned by Queens natives Al Cottone and Jeremy Rivera and operates two CAURD-licensed shops.
Where Is the Closest Licensed Dispensary to JFK Airport?
The closest Terp Bros NYC location to John F. Kennedy International Airport is the Ozone Park store at 135-26 Cross Bay Blvd, Ozone Park, NY 11417, about 4.1 mi from JFK in a straight line. It sits along Cross Bay Boulevard, about 0.6 mi from Resorts World NYC, so it is an easy stop whether you are headed into the city or settling into the area.
Ozone Park operates under New York OCM license OCM-CAURD-25-000294. Because it is a licensed adult-use retailer, every product on the shelf is lab-tested to New York Office of Cannabis Management standards and sold only to adults 21 and over with valid government-issued ID. You can browse the full selection on the menu before you arrive and place an order for in-store pickup to keep the stop quick.
Where Is the Closest Licensed Dispensary to LaGuardia Airport?
For LaGuardia Airport (LGA), the nearest Terp Bros NYC location is the Astoria store at 36-10 Ditmars Blvd, Astoria, NY 11105, about 1.7 mi from LaGuardia in a straight line. The Astoria shop runs under OCM license OCM-CAURD-23-000020.
Astoria is the more transit-friendly of the two stores. It sits near the end of the N and W subway lines at the Astoria-Ditmars Blvd station, so visitors staying in Manhattan, Long Island City, or Astoria itself can reach it without a car. If you would rather not make the trip at all, see the delivery section below. For more on the neighborhood retail scene, our Queens dispensary overview covers both stores in depth.
Can I Fly With Weed From JFK or LaGuardia?
No. You should not fly with cannabis. Cannabis remains illegal under federal law, and once you pass a TSA checkpoint you are in federal jurisdiction. Carrying cannabis across state lines is a federal offense regardless of whether both states have legalized it, so do not pack it in a carry-on or checked bag.
A few accurate points worth understanding before you travel:
- The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) states that possession of marijuana is illegal under federal law and that its officers refer suspected violations to law enforcement. TSA does not actively search for cannabis, but discovery can still trigger a referral. (Source: TSA, "Medical Marijuana," tsa.gov)
- Any flight crossing state lines involves interstate commerce and federal airspace. Flying between two legal states does not make cannabis transport legal.
- The simplest lawful approach: do not fly with it. Buy what you plan to consume during your stay from a licensed New York retailer, consume it legally inside New York while 21 or older, and leave anything left over behind.
Consuming cannabis on airport property, on the aircraft, or in any federal building is also prohibited.
What Out-of-State Visitors Need to Buy Legally in New York
Any out-of-state visitor who is 21 or older can buy cannabis at a licensed New York dispensary using a valid US government-issued photo ID. A driver's license, state ID, US passport, or US military ID from any state is accepted. You do not need to be a New York resident, and you do not need a medical card for adult-use purchases.
Under New York's Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act (MRTA), signed into law on March 31, 2021, adults 21 and over may possess up to 3 ounces of cannabis and up to 24 grams of cannabis concentrate, and may purchase cannabis only from retailers licensed by the New York Office of Cannabis Management. Buying from unlicensed sellers is illegal, and unlicensed shops are not lab-tested or regulated, so verifying a license matters. Both Terp Bros locations display their OCM license numbers publicly: Astoria is OCM-CAURD-23-000020 and Ozone Park is OCM-CAURD-25-000294. Laws change - verify at cannabis.ny.gov.
A practical note on payment: licensed New York dispensaries cannot accept credit cards because of federal banking restrictions on cannabis. In-store, Terp Bros accepts cash or debit. For delivery, you can prepay securely with Dutchie Pay.
Can I Get Cannabis Delivered to My Hotel or Airbnb?
Yes. Terp Bros NYC offers same-day delivery across Queens, which is convenient for visitors staying in a hotel or short-term rental who do not want to make a trip to either store. Delivery is free over $100, and you order by 9pm for same-day service.
To use delivery as a visitor:
- Browse and order from the cannabis delivery page or the live menu.
- Prepay with Dutchie Pay so the handoff at the door is quick.
- Have a 21+ government-issued ID ready - the driver verifies age on delivery, just as the counter does in store.
- Make sure your hotel or rental allows the handoff and that you have a legal place to consume; many hotels prohibit smoking, and edibles or other discreet formats may suit a visit better.
Delivery covers neighborhoods Queens-wide from both stores, so whether you are near LaGuardia in Astoria or down by JFK in Ozone Park, a same-day order is usually within reach. Minimums are set by ZIP, and the checker on the cannabis delivery page shows yours.
