Summer Storm: A Terp Bros Newsletter
It's early morning, and you're hiding under an overpass from the unpredictable sheets of heavy rain that have ravaged the city with unimaginable and devastating water levels. The heat is oppressive, and aside from the halal cart operator a few blocks up that was desperately trying to save his ingredients from the latest onslaught of violent precipitation, you haven't seen a soul in hours. You're not entirely sure how you got here and even more unclear on how you intend to escape, but a mural on the wall across the street gives you a clue as to where you are. Astoria, Queens.
By Bill Wallis

Suddenly, there is an opportune break in the rain. You take your chance and jump into the rushing river that used to be 36th St to swim for the slightly more accessible side and hopefully work your way north to find more people. If there are any, you think to yourself. On your way across, amidst the current and debris, you see the halal cart you passed hours ago floating by, rice and lettuce all around. For a brief moment, you fear the worst. You finally reach the other side and look up the block to see the cook clinging tightly to a telephone pole a few feet above the surface of the slowly receding rapids. He gives you a cautious but optimistic thumbs up as you catch your breath and return the gesture.
The water level starts to lower almost as quickly as it rose, and soon you can somewhat easily walk up what used to be the sidewalk, now strewn with remnants of scattered belongings and reminders of the storm to end all storms. As the clouds give way to unencumbered sunlight, you look up to see a street sign that reads, "Ditmars Blvd." You're no longer unsure of your surroundings. You're a few steps away from Terp Bros. But you tell yourself there's no way that they're around. Not after a storm like that. To your surprise, they are, and they're open.
You walk in, get greeted by one of their friendly and knowledgeable budtenders, and buy a pack of top quality prerolls. As they wish you well, you walk back out the door, light up, exhale, and suddenly, the remnants of the storm are all gone. The sun is shining, and all seems well. Turns out, the weather actually wasn't as bad as you were imagining. It was only sprinkling, and you needed to get high. But we understand how that feeling can quickly spiral until you feel like the whole world is crashing down around you. That's why we're now open at 8am! For storms both literal and metaphorical, Terp Bros has you covered!
Thanks for indulging us in that longer-than-usual intro. When you do something week after week, you need to occasionally mix it up to keep things interesting. Rest assured no Terp Bros customers, staff, or fictional halal cart operators were harmed in the writing of that fictional intro segment. Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming. As usual, we're back again with a new list of what has been hitting the shelves here at Terp Bros (Astoria and Ozone Park) lately, as well as where to satisfy those munchies cravings and what events are happening near you over the next week. Thanks as always for reading. If you didn't, it would be crazy that we've done OVER ONE HUNDRED of these! But, for some reason or another, you keep coming back week after week and so we're dedicated to continuing our pursuit of showing you just how dope Queens really is! So, like every other week, sit back and relax. Let us set you up with the most Terp Bros week we can! And don't forget to stop by one of the shops to grab some goodies and say what's up to your favorite budtender! Not naming any names or anything, but...

To The Moon Flower 1/2 Ounce - Peanut Butter Crunch (Astoria)

Early Saturday morning. You're eleven years old, and it's the middle of summer break. You have no responsibilities or expectations of you, and because of that, all you've planned for your day is staying in your pajamas and watching TV. Sure, it starts with innocent Saturday morning cartoons, but as soon as noon rolls around, you switch the channel to glue your eyes to an elderly man named Maury who is about to tell a man named Mark whether or not he is the father of a child in question, as the mother sits in stunned silence. He pulls out a manilla envelope and reaches in to find a few pieces of white paper stapled together. After a dramatic and drawn out pause, "When it comes to little baby Stefano," he says as your autonomic blink response is suppressed for what seems like an eternity. "Mark, you are..." You almost can't hold back your excitement to find out the almost certainly fabricated results to a paternity test that could not have less to do with you. "...not the father."
The crowd goes wild. Mark starts jumping up and down as if he's just won the lottery. The mother breaks down crying and runs away, but the quick thinking camera man follows her backstage so as to not miss a single heartbreaking moment. In the midst of all of the chaos, you didn't even realize that you had knocked over your cereal bowl. The last bowl of Fruity Pebbles, at that. Total devastation washes over you and for a brief moment, you know how Briana felt back on that stage. Then you see it. That orange box in the back of the pantry you forgot you had. The best cereal known to man, for those who aren't allergic to peanuts, that is. Peanut Butter Crunch. What does any of this have to do with the flower, you ask? Nothing. We just needed to make it back to cereal, and we got there. Together. However, if you're looking for a new half ounce that will make you feel like Mark did when he got those results, look no further than the Peanut Butter Crunch from To The Moon! Balanced hybrid, potent effects, buttery smooth flavor. No milk needed! Stop by Terp Bros Astoria to grab a bag of flower today.
Puffco Peak Pro - Plasma Colorway (Both Locations)

Puffco has been climbing to the top of the E-rig mountain for years now, and with the Plasma lineup, they truly have reached the Peak (Pro). On their journey to the top, they ran across the bodies of those that tried to ascend before they were ready. As heartbreaking as it was to continue the climb, they cranked up the Miley playlist in their ear buds and pressed on. Besides, they're still up there because it's more dangerous to bring them back down, so that's where they stay. Forever in an icy tomb, preserved as reminders of mortality to those E-rig companies who attempt the climb themselves. The view from the top, however, makes it all worth it. That feeling of achieving what you once believed was impossible is a dragon you'll be chasing forever. Though you may never reach that feeling again, you'll always have the memories. When you feel like reminiscing, there's no better way to do it than with a dab sesh with the all new Puffco Peak Pro Plasma! The purple, red, and orange fade away colors are as mesmerizing as that first breath of truly fresh air on a mountaintop you've just summited.
Whether or not you want to actually climb a mountain, the feeling is available to you anytime with a Puffco Peak Pro Plasma. It is also available in the 3DXL Chamber as well as the hot knife so you can get the whole set! Pair it with your favorite concentrates and get yours today while supplies last! Available now at both Terp Bros Astoria and Terp Bros Ozone Park.
Cannatella Pistachio Spread - 100mg Jars (Astoria)

Dubai Chocolate everything. That seems to be the world we live in now. No matter where you look, there is a giant chocolate bar filled with delicious pistachio spread and crunchy pastry pieces. Are we complaining? No, why would we? We smoke weed. We've been contemplating what the world would be like if everything was coated in chocolate and filled with a tasty, crunchy spread for decades. Now we finally get to know what it's like firsthand! We say take it even further. Dubai chocolate sodas, sandwich bread, contact lenses. You could take all of the magma out of the earth's molten nickel core and replace it with a swirling ball of melted chocolate and pistachio spread and we would be totally fine with it. We saw that movie 'The Core' so we know all we need is DJ Qualls and some hot pockets and we'll survive. Until the day we live in that glorious, apocalyptic chocolate world, we'll just have to settle for chocolate and pistachio spread where we can get them. Lucky for you, we sell both infused chocolate (assorted brands) and pistachio spread from Cannatella here at Terp Bros Astoria! That means you can actually make a Dubai (or Dub-high) chocolate bar yourself! Or just eat it right out of the jar with a spoon. We won't tell anyone. Browse the rest of our edibles while you're at it.
Ayrloom Infused Prerolls - Bomb Popz (Ozone Park)

We've all been there before. Playing with friends in the street, cautiously looking for cars and doing just about anything but drinking water. Ah, times were simpler back then. All you wanted was to hear that sweet siren song of the ice cream truck spinning down your block. As soon as you see the truck, you and your friends start running and waving your arms to get his attention. Both so you can get a sweet frozen treat, but also so he sees you and doesn't just keep driving at full speed. You never know. Few things hit as refreshingly as that tri colored pop on a stick called the Bomb Pop. Three colors, three flavors, one nostalgic summer memory you just can't shake. Ayrloom, known for delicious flavored drinks and gummies, is now breaking into the infused preroll market and their Bomb Popz strain is an absolute banger. Summer citrus, deep blueberry, and cherry punch terps meet your tastebuds with an explosion of flavor. The high on these is exactly what you would expect. Bright, refreshing, and the perfect addition to a hot summer day. If that sounds interesting to you, head to Terp Bros Ozone Park today and check out the rest of our prerolls while you're there!
Weekly Restaurant Highlight - Bagel Station Express (Ozone Park)

Life is like a bagel. It goes full circle. Alright, you caught us. We don't know what we're talking about. We just really want to highlight this awesome new bagel spot in Ozone Park, and we know you've come to expect a certain level of connectivity to our writing. We failed you today. Instead, what we offer you today is a heartfelt and honest suggestion for an amazing new spot to get bagels, italian specialties, hero sandwiches, unique milkshakes, and so much more! Their bagels, of course, are great. "It's the water." Don't even. The bagels are good here because the people that make them are dedicated to their craft and actually know what a good bagel is. It's as simple as that, and that would have been enough for us to shout them out, but they didn't stop there. No, they went on to also perfect their sandwiches, sides, and drinks! That level of dedication also bleeds into their customer service. You can tell that the people who work there know that their product is top of the line. They serve up the food with pride, and rightfully so. If you happen to be in the Ozone Park area and looking for a quick bite or even a full meal, head over to Bagel Station Express and let them know the crew at Terp Bros sent you!
Weekly Restaurant Highlight - Sorriso Italian Salumeria (Astoria)

Not all of us have a Nona. It's a sad but true fact of life. Not everyone gets to grow up with a person who has no interest more powerful than making sure you've had enough home cooked food. For those of us who don't have that, or even know what it's like, there is Sorriso. If you are in need of a delicious Italian specialty, or a mouthwatering sandwich, or just a warm hug in the form of saucy goodness, look no further than Sorriso Italian Salumeria in Astoria. The cutlets, forget about it. The meatballs? Like grandma spent all day simmering them. The sausage and prosciutto bread? Unbelievable. Aside from the food, the people who work there make you feel like you're part of the family when you walk in. Like they've been waiting for you to share the good news of the day. When all is said and done, isn't that what we're all searching for in the first place? To feel loved and cared for and, most importantly, taken care of. The good people at Sorriso understand that and take it very seriously. Quality on that level is something you can taste with every bite. For that reason, we highly suggest you try them out if you haven't yet. For those wondering what our pick is from the menu, it's everything. However, if we had to choose a single item, it would probably be their Fuhgettaboutit sandwich. It's fried chicken cutlet with bacon, fresh mozzarella, chipotle mayo, and house made macaroni salad. Spicy, sweet, crunchy, and perfectly balanced. You won't be disappointed no matter what you order! When you stop by, make sure to let them know we sent you!
Small Business Spotlight - Sunnyside Book & Media Swap

This business is as small as it gets, seeing as nobody officially runs it. The Sunnyside Book and Media Swap is a place you can go to find and buy, trade, or donate used books and media including DVDs, VHS tapes, CDs, and more. It's an amazing place where the community comes together to swap the stories that helped shape them into the people they became with people who still have that growing to do. It's also a great way to downsize and feel great about it. Time to clear out some of those old books and movies you've read and watched hundreds of times? Pack them up and bring them to the swap! There are surely countless people in the city that would get a lot of use and love out of them. For those more down on their luck than others, there are also some free media items. It's also open 24/7 (weather permitting), so there are lots of opportunities to check it out! Make sure to bring some old books or DVDs in case you see anything you'd like to swap for! Saving money is great because it leaves you with more to get things from us here at Terp Bros with!
Catch You Next Week
Well, here we are again. At the end of another journey. We survived a made-up flash flood of epic proportion, we talked about where to get amazing sandwiches and Italian classics here in Queens, and we highlighted some amazing new products on the shelves here at Terp Bros Astoria and Ozone Park. What a wild ride it has been. As always, thanks for joining us week after week for these silly little newsletters. Without you guys, there would be nobody to write them for and what a waste of time that whole intro sequence would have been. We hope to see you over the next week and we also hope that the weather will level out a bit, for the remainder of summer's sake. Go outside and get some sunshine. Not too much. And try your best to avoid the ever worsening random summer storms! Until next week, have a great smoke!
