Between the Bagel (Astoria)

The weather has taken a dramatic shift into cold, and we thought it was only right to highlight a spot that's putting out nothing but pure heat! Sure, we could tell you about all that Between the Bagel has to offer. We could tell you that their bagels are hand rolled, boiled, and baked in house fresh daily. We could tell you the story of how this amazing little Korean bagel shop got its start. However, that is not what we are here to do today. No, today we are here to highlight a specific sandwich on their menu. If you're from New York or if you've spent any time here, you're familiar with the BEC or as you may know it, the baconeggandcheese. All one word. While that sandwich still reigns supreme in the city, Between the Bagel is challenging that supremacy with their addition to the list of must-try breakfast sandwiches in New York.

Their twist? Instead of perfectly crisped up bacon, they use Korean Bulgogi beef. The sweet and spicy combo, in addition to the perfectly charred and seasoned beef will leave you looking for another bite when all there is left is wrapper. They also have amazing sides and specials, but trust us. What you want to do is get there as soon as possible, order the Seoul Meets Bagel, and then thank us for shedding light on one of the most amazing bites this city has to offer. Gaia Masala and Burger (Astoria)

Alright guys, we hear you. Two Astoria spots in one newsletter? We got the rest of Queens next week, promise. For now, we just couldn't resist sharing with you. Why, you ask? So glad you did. What if we just typed the words Chicken Tikka Masala Cheesesteak? Would that combo of letters and spaces do anything for you? No? Maybe it's just something you have to try for yourself to understand. We'll do our best to describe it for you in a way that does it justice.

It starts with a base of traditional Naan bread (garlic or plain, go garlic). On top of that, they pile freshly stewed, creamy and perfectly seasoned chicken Tikka Masala with gooey cheese mixed throughout. Then it's topped with cilantro and onion and wrapped up carefully for your digestive convenience. It is honestly a top tier food combination that works way better than it has any right to. You really do have to try it for yourself. If you are a cheesesteak or a Tikka Masala fan, you need to do yourself a favor and experience this flavor. Make sure that when you do, because you will, that you tell them where you heard about it first!
