What’s good, Terp Folks? It’s been about a week since we last spoke so we figured it’s time we caught up! How’s life? Family good? Great. Now that that’s done, we’re about to hit you with another heater of a newsletter packed with fire products, amazing local restaurants, and fun stuff to do along the way. The weather is crazy lately. One day we’re sweating to death in the shade, the next we’re pulling back out the puffer and Tims. Not to worry, the temperature at Terp Bros is always a comfortable 420. Not sure if that’s celsius or fahrenheit. Oh well. Sit back, kick your feet up, and let us lace up your week in a way only Terp Bros can! Don’t forget to jot down some of these suggestions to help make your week more fun!

1. Florette Flower & Prerolls (Both Locations)

Do you know what the little pieces you cut off of a crown of broccoli is called? That’s right, they’re called florets. That was our only vegetable fact for the day. You’re welcome. Now that education time is over, let’s talk about the amazing work the people over at Florette are doing to bring NYC some of the most beautiful, fresh, tasty, and stoney flower you’ve ever smoked. From their bright, heady sativa strains to their deeply relaxing and potent indicas, Florette has the flower you need. Not into rolling your own? No worries! Instead, just roll into our Astoria location and grab one of the Florette prerolls we have available. Broccoli is also part of the same family as Brussels sprouts, kale, cauliflower, and Romanesco. Just different cultivars. Dang it, we said only one vegetable fact. So sorry. Won’t happen again.

2. Preferred Gardens Flower (Both Locations)

Do you prefer good weed or bad weed? Silly question, right? Cool. Glad we can all agree on that. Assuming you said you prefer good weed, you should check out one of the many strains from Preferred Gardens available at both Terp Bros locations! No matter what your preference, preferred is the preferred brand. Need a strain to keep you awake at your boring retail job? We get it, novelty socks don’t sell themselves. That’s why we sell good weed like Preferred. Need a strain that will help you sleep through the day at your boring office job with a serious lack of supervision? Preferred also has you covered there. Regardless of why you prefer good weed, if you do, you should try Preferred Gardens. We think you’ll prefer it to the competition.

3. Stiiizy 40’s Infused Preroll 5 Packs (Ozone)

You know Stiiizy from their vapes and pods. Delivering potent puffs for your pleasure is the name of the game, but a company like Stiiizy can’t just stick to one thing. No, expansion is key and thank goodness the forward thinking minds at Stiiizy understand that. For that reason, they brought the same potency and flavor that you’ve come to know and love from their vaporizers into a five pack of infused prerolls. Stop by Terp Bros Ozone Park today to grab yourself a pack and see what all of the hype is about! Who’s hyping them up, you ask? We are! We think you’ll love their prerolls and we think you’ll love that there are five in each pack even more. That means you’ve got one for each work week. Whether you choose to enjoy them before work, on your lunch, or after your shift is up to you. No judgement. Just make sure you can hold it together because these things pack a serious punch! Available in assorted strains including hybrids, indicas, and sativas.

WEEKLY RESTAURANT HIGHLIGHT(S)

Hmart (Long Island City)

Sure, Hmart isn’t a “restaurant” in the traditional sense. Alright, we’ll level with you. It isn’t a restaurant at all. In fact, it’s a huge specialty Korean food grocery store with foods from all over Korea! From frozen dumplings to banana milk and so much more, Hmart has all you could ever need from a grocery perspective. They also have loads of sections where you can grab premade hot dishes like Musubi and Katsu as well as cold dishes like Gimbap and hundreds of varieties of kimchi to try! However, the reason they made it into the “restaurant” highlight section is because in the front of the store there is a food court with multiple different stalls to get tasty Korean treats from! Gotta love a grocery store where you don’t even have to shop for groceries! They have everything from dumplings to noodle soups, even Korean corn dogs with cheese that stretches farther than cheese should rightfully stretch. For your convenience! Need something fun (and tasty) to do on your next day off? Head to Hmart and explore! Your refrigerator (and stomach) will thank you!

Joeleny’s Restaurant (Ozone Park)

Sometimes you have a craving for some Dominican food and don’t have the time or money to book a trip to DR. That’s understandable. Times are tough. However, there may just be a better way. In fact, we know that there is. There is something magnetic about good Dominican food that just draws you in. We get it. Rice, beans, meats. It’s tough to go wrong with that combo, not that Dominican food is just that. It’s a vibrant and eclectic cuisine that shines and surprises with flavors that are unforgettable. Something about Joeleny’s makes you feel like the food was made especially for you, by a family member or loved one. Each bite from this restaurant will make you smile and close your eyes. No, seriously. We tested it out and we spent roughly 27% of our dining time while moaning with our eyes closed. Yes, we did make a scene. No, we don’t care. The food is that good. Normally this would be the point in the newsletter where we would highlight some specific menu options that stand out above the rest. Unfortunately, all of the food was too good to pick, so you’ll just have to come check it out for yourself. No matter what you order, you’ll love it! We’re confident about that. Make sure you tell them we sent you when you visit!

\Honorable Mention\ 7th Street Burger (Ditmars)

Seventh Street Burger is taking over New York with their classic smash burgers, minimal menu options, and retro burger shop vibes. The newest addition to their growing list of Queens locations is soon to be located a few short steps down Ditmars from our Astoria shop! Get ready for Terp Bros to smell like smash burgers and French fries slightly more regularly than it already does. A little birdie told us that they plan to be open by 4/20 which means you’ll have an amazing new munchies option for your 4/20 festivities! Tell them we said what’s up when you stop by!

Small Business Spotlight(s)

Lockwood Gifts

Lockwood stationary and gifts has been serving Astoria locals and offering them a one stop shop for all things gifts and stationary related for years. Sometimes we highlight small local businesses here because they’re struggling and we want to get them new customers and hopefully help keep them afloat to keep our community thriving. Luckily for all of us, Lockwood is doing great! In fact, they’re celebrating their new flagship location that’s opening April 18th with a HUGE twenty percent off sale! This new space is huge, bright, welcoming, and still offers all of what Astoria locals have come to know and love from Lockwood over the years. Awesome, unique cards and stationary, quirky gifts and tote bags, even assorted snacks and sauces too! Even if you don’t have a specific reason to go to a store like Lockwood, we’re confident you’ll find something (or many things) you didn’t know you needed. Make sure to snag a tote bag while you’re there to carry any other trinkets you find and realize you just can’t live without on your trek across Astoria to come see us and get some awesome new products here at Terp Bros! No matter why you go check Lockwood out, be sure to tell them you heard about them from us!

Well, here we are again. Another week passed, and with it, another brief moment of connection between us and you, the reader. Normally, we’d just be winding down the write up at this point and saying our goodbyes. However, our conscience simply won’t let us do that this time around. Earlier in the newsletter, we lied. We told you a little birdie told us that 7th Street was planning on opening their Ditmars location by 4/20. We have to confess… a little birdie didn’t tell us that. It was the owner of 7th Street themself. In fact, we can’t understand birds at all. We know this is a crushing blow for you and your trust in us may never fully recover. We understand. We thought it would be a fun, cute little thing but there is nothing fun or cute about dishonesty, so we apologize. If this revelation has you inconsolable, we recommend some comfort food to try to feel better about it. In case you’re wondering where to go, we have it on strong authority that 7th Street’s Ditmars location will be open by then. Glad we could get that off our chest. Thanks for understanding. Won’t happen again!

As always, thank you so much for reading each week! We have so much fun writing these and can’t express how much it means to hear from you all about trying the restaurants and shopping at the local small businesses we highlight week after week. It makes us feel like we’re doing a small part to help keep Astoria and Queens at large so great. We couldn’t do any of that without you guys reading! So, if you love our weekly write ups, let us know! Keep visiting the restaurants and shops, keep telling them we sent you, and if you’ve got the time, shoot us a review and mention the newsletter so more people can find it and enjoy all of the fun stuff we share with you all every week! Until next time, keep exploring Queens!
