What Is Eisenhower Park?
Eisenhower Park, officially Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial Park, is a 930-acre Nassau County park in East Meadow, larger than Manhattan's Central Park, with Hempstead Turnpike on its south side and Old Country Road on its north. Much of it is given over to three 18-hole golf courses, including the Red Course, where the ninth PGA Championship was played in 1926 when the land was the private Salisbury Country Club. Dedicated as Salisbury Park on October 1, 1949, it was renamed for President Eisenhower on October 13, 1969, and it holds the September 11th Memorial for Nassau County residents.
