Cedarhurst, once named Ocean Point, is a Nassau County village inside the Town of Hempstead, on Long Island's South Shore. The village incorporated in 1910. The 2020 census counted 7,374 people.
Trains began running here in 1869, and the Rockaway Hunting Club followed in 1878. When a post office was established in 1884, Ocean Point became Cedarhurst, partly because the Hunt Club asked for the change. The new name recalls a cluster of trees that once grew beside that post office.
